Great band that should have been way bigger in North America.Their
double live from 1977 is a true hard rock classic.I strongly advise
checking out their entire 60,s and 70,s releases.Radar Love for me.

Kind of OT but--golden earring has been going strong since the mid-60s-they've also been one of holland's biggest-some of their early stuff is on the nuggets II comp--they were part of a big dutch rock scene that included the outsiders (not the US band of Time Won't Let Me fame-and Cuby and the Blizzards) I once had a discussion on dutch rock from the 60s with a dutch prof at an academic confrence I went to.

At one point in the 60s they were the Golden Earrings, later just Golden Earring. IMO, their earlier works from the late 60s thru the early 70s are by far their best period. Great stuff to be had, and most are on CD. I was living in Germany at the time, and got to see them at a 3 day rock festival in Aachen, Germany in 1970, along with Free, Deep Purple and many others. They were excellent in concert. Also saw them in a club in Amsterdam in May of 1970, before I had any idea who they were. While I like the later material by them, I am always leaning much more to their earlier work. Their releases as The Golden Earrings have a much more 60s pop feel to them. These are also on CD, not sure how easy they are to get, but some of those first releases I have managed to find on CD over the years.

Oh yea, of those two songs, I prefer Twilight Zone, and the earlier version of Radar Love is, just IMO, better than the one that later was released and became a hit.

I was in a Stooges/Motorhead type band about 6 years ago and we covered Twilight Zone. People in the crowd couldn't quite place it at first, but once it dawned on them they usually got into it.

That being said, I gotta go with Radar Love because of the bass line, and the Brenda Lee mention!

Twilight Zone! I remember both when they were radio hits...Radar Love sounds too stuck in the 70's, whereas Twilight Zone has a cool, haunting vibe that still sounds great today.
