When New Wave happens to mainstream artists

Remember when established mainstream artists tried to "go New wave"?
Like when Billy Joel seemed to be channeling Elvis Costello on 1980's "Glass Houses" or when Paul McCartney punked up a few Wings songs and released his syth-pop opus "McCartney 2" in 1980? I'm not knocking them for trying (I happen to like those records) but can you think of other mainstream acts who jumped on the bandwagon?

Oh, let us not forget...Jefferson Starship -"We Built This City" and Phil Collins "Sussudio" (however it is spelled). Classic examples of old rocksters that tried to sound 80's.

Well here's an example of where it went right-the 80s King Crimson sound-Fripp was an old prog-rocker who did a great job of updating his sound with the likes of Adrian Belew-lots of wavers I knew loved Beat and Three of A Perfect Pair-

Also Ian Hunter of Mott the Hoople-In the 80s he got recognized as kind of a kindly "boring old fart" by the Wave and Punk Crowds-he did two punky albums in the 80s-You're never alone with a schizophrenic and short back 'n sides

I keep finding GOOD examples-Bill Nelson of prog-rockers BeBop Deluxe was certainly a new wave hero in the 80s
