Good Gravy! I was just going through some e-bay last night and I saw a 20 (!?) CD box set called the history of punk-it had every punk rock tune in the universe on there!!!

WHich got me to thinking-what's your favorite box and why-Me I love boxes because I have a short attention span when it comes to music and like to have things changed up on me.

My answers might surprise you:

The Chess Blues Box-I swear Chicago blues was the punk rock of the post-war era-it was loud, nasty and Underground.

Nuggets II-the foreign nuggets set-I used to thing american sixties music was weird until I got this-the brits, aussies and dutch had some amazing music in the 60s.

I expect my answers to change once the left of the dial set comes out-I know a lot of this stuf is available on CD already-but It's when I I (mid-80s) really got into music-also I have a feeling the Fleshtones box will knock my socks off-four-to-five hours of unadulterated super-rock

I love the "Join the Dots" box set by the Cure. It's very well organized, designed and layed out. It's nice to see a lot of care and attention was given to their b-sides, and there is a lot of good stuff on there.

I love box sets. I especially love when they have great packaging; and contain a lot of rarities. Some of my favs are:

The Cure-Join the Dots, especially discs 1 and 2

Nuggets 1

The Velvet Underground-Peel Slowly and See. Contains their 4 clas

Blackbox-WaxTrax! Records: The First 13 Years
A 3 CD set that came in a deluxe steel box with various stickers, poster, coasters, etc.

I have to go with both Nuggets box sets - absolute greatness.

I still haven't picked up the Cure box set, I wanted to make sure that all those b-sides and such wouldn't end up on the album reissues as well.

If that's the case, there is a good chance it might go out of print, since there would be no reason to have it around anymore (like why "Taking Liberties" by Elvis Costello is out of print). Even if those songs are repeated on the re-issues, I still thin

I always liked This Mortal Coil's box set. Has to be one of my faves!

What about the Stiff Records box set? Now that is a collection of New Wave!

Anyone else have the old Buzzcocks "Product" box set?
