Dave mentioned Capezios in the 'regrets' thread and I couldn't stop laughing...forgot all about those....but what would you consider the OFFICIAL footwear of the discerning new wave fan??
Black/White checked Vans??
Doctor Martins??
I'm going with the one, the only, high top Converse Chuck Taylors. You could afford those. They were cool. They were a friend to the poor/cheap new wave fan!!!

We wore penny loafers.
Then again we were doing a Mod/Preppy fusion thing.

The coolest kids wore checkered vans.
I wore those little jazz shoes like Duran Duran "Rio" era, and then those relaxed soft boots from same group. Looked better than you'd think !

EVERYBODY had a pair of checkered vans.
At least after FTARH came out.
For a short period in 11th grade, I wore a pair of all grey "driving shoes".
You'll never catch me doing THAT again!

By Capezios, do you mean the soft jazz oxfords?
My girlfriends and I all wore pointy thrift store pumps from the 60's. Or, for casual, pointy little flats . . . and guess what, I just bought a new pair identical to those I wore circa 1983. In summerti

Oh yeah, and some of the girls and guys both wore the Converse high tops. They were hard to find in the fairly affluent Seattle 'burb of Bellevue, where I grew up [xx(], and I remember in sophomore year my friend Liz had to take the bus all the way out

Green Chuck Taylors. (I now have a pair of red ones, but I saw they are making green again!)
Black wing-tips. (I'm wearing a pair right now)
What we called "fairy boots", black suede boots that folded over on the top. Looked really stupid, especial

Purple Chuck Taylors. Sperry topsiders (for the preppy look). Bowling shoes. Vans (I had all white and tropical).

Being somewhat of a preppy new waver I wore converse high tops (black or white), topsiders, or canvas boat shoes (white or blue). For dressier occasions penny loafers or pointy black wingtips. I always considered slip on Vans (checkered or otherwise) to

Holy crap-fairy boots! I forgot about those. I had a pair in the very early 80's. And I had the guido capizios. I don't know what vans are. Are they slip ons? If so, Brooklyn guidos called them decks. Only in white. Lucky for me I got cool and only wore m

In my Paisley Undergound-Psych-garage revival days I had a pair of beatle boots and a pair of slip on brown boots-I also had a pair of red Chuck T's and a pair of beat-up black loafers

I wore the pointy toed black suede shoes and also a pair that laced up like a ballet pointe shoe(I wore these with flourescent or fishnet stockings). For a while, it was cool to wear work boots(for those of us who couldn't afford Doc Martens) and, pretty
