Saw Channel 4 news last night and they reported that the legendary Aldo's in Lyndhurst, NJ, and the boarding house above it burnt down. Well, not to the ground, but the place looked in awful shape. 20 families that lived above it are now homeless.

What a bummer. That place has been kicking ass and taking names forever! So saddened for them. [:(]

The cause of the fire has not been determined - it may have been arson.
btw - Why are they closed on Saturdays?

Never understood that myself...the closed on Saturdays thing.

The fire happened on Saturday, right? Hmmm...

I heard the news too.

I'm extremely saddened and broken-hearted to hear this. Aldos was my stomping grounds back in the day, and I still went on occasion (the last time being a few months ago).

I feel like a piece of my youth got ripped out from u

Hoping that they rebuild, but I'm not very optimistic. [V]

Wow! I was there Friday night! I can't believe this! To think of all these people suddenly out of a home is an even bigger tragedy.

I doubt that they will rebuild Aldo's too. It looked to me like the place was just barely getting by as it is.

I drove past it tonight. Well, there's nothing left to reopen. The building is a just a pile of debris. The stench of smoke is still in the air two days later. Shame.

Looks like the Aldo's folks just moved the night over to Traxx, which is in a nearby town. At least the Friday night is moving over there. Hopefully the faithfuls make the transition for their sake.

Re: Traxx. Had a crappy time there, didn't stay too long.

What really irked me was that they were playing videos of Aldo's burning down on the dance floor. How tacky is that?

Traxx was lame. There will never be another Aldo's. It's all over. End

I went last night (the industrial night...not my favorite genre but what the hell) and the interior of this place sort of reminds me of a dance club in the hotel where I stayed in the Carribean. That said I think it will take a great deal of work and prom

Hey you were describing ME! I had on flip flops, a baseball hat and I recently got a boob job to go with my love handles! LOL

Seriously though, the Sunday night crowd was'nt much better. Was Traxx a hip-hop club or something originally? Looked that way
