OK, I was listening to an Elvis Costello compilation the other night and my wife just shrugs her shoulders and leaves the room. Go figure. She just can’t get his voice. Oh well, I guess it is an acquired taste. So I am then discussing this with a friend who says that it is like Bob Dylan. FWIW, I don’t think Dylan is anything like Costello but, why is it I can relax to Elvis but Bob does nothing for me?

Elvis Costello and Bob Dylan have a great deal in common. Costello's "King Of America" album is rich with Dylan's influence and influences. Both are lovers of obscure country and R-n-B acts too.

I would say I'm listening to Dylan more than Elvis Costello these days but that's because I had twenty-some years of following Costello and only recently discovered Dylan. That said, Bob Dylan's
