New Wave Outpost Forum

We always talk about the 80's when it comes to New Wave but there have been some great releases by old bands in the past few years. Here are few:

Sensor - Camouflage (They went back to their roots with this album and even reunited the original line-up. Spectacular mature synth/new wave release)

Lifelines - A-ha (Mature but not boring. Awesome ballads with great instrumentation. Morten's voice is still one of the best New Wave voices around)

Salvation - Alphaville (A band that will always be known for only Forever Young and Big In Japan. Those songs are great but the songs on their later albums and this album are just as good.)

Autotunes - Boytronic (The singer from the first line up and the main keyboardist from the second line up joined to release this album. Great 80's sound with updated synthesizers and programming.)

Nightlife - Pet Shop Boys (PSB with a touch of Trance. Their best album since Behavior in my opinion)

To The Goddess Electricity - Rational Youth (Cold War Night Life will always be a New Wave classic but this album was probably one of the best come back albums I've heard. Rational Youth fans were not disappointed)

Anyways, I'm sure a lot of you have these already but if you don't, please do yourself a favor and pick them up. Support the WAVE.

a-ha's "Minor Earth, Major Sky" is really good, as well. I think that was released in 2001 or 2002. I didn't like the PSB's "Nightlife" at all, but thought "Behavior" was good. The Fixx's latest, "Want That Life" is really good. Nik Kershaw's last two alb

Rational Youth is still around? Wow. I'd love to get their older stuff on CD. Coboloid Race and taht weird funky instrumental(both bonus tracks) are primo synth.

Just picked up the new Alarm cd -In The Poppyfields. I think it is very good. Mike Peters still sounds great. The first two songs sound like they could have been right out of the Strength era. Worth checking out.
