New Wave Outpost Forum

There were a lot of songs that were taged as new wave. Some were great, some were not so great. What do you consider the worst new wave song? Note, I will not argue what songs were and what songs were not new wave. I might argue which songs were bad and which were good [;)]

I love it when non-new wave artists tried to jump on the bandwagon and put out a new wave album.

That song was so bad it was embarrassing just to listen to it.

I think that song was done as a dare.

A couple of other bad "new wave" albums by non new-wave artists.

Shaun Cassidy-WASP, a 70's teen-dream tries to go legit and fails miserably.
Darryl Hall-Sacred Songs, I think even Robert Fripp produced this.

How his songs keep ending up on New Wave compilations is beyond me.

This guy was not new wave but tried to have that synthpop/dance sound on this-Maniac by Michael Sembello.

For the life of me I don't understand why "There's Something Going On" by Frida is so popular with new wave fans-ABBA without the other A and the Two B's is just "A."

I'm with pikeprof. I never understood the whole Frida appeal to New Wavers. I also never understood why Greg Kihn and Quarterflash were EVER considered even remotely New Wave.

I have to say that most songs listed here are songs I was not thrilled with 20 years ago, however after listening to so much radio trash from 93 on I find I actually like most of these songs today.[8D]
