I know I have, but I do not care what other people think of my tastes. I have heard plenty of derogatory comments made of new wave.
A few:
It is fag music.
That it is not "real" music.
It is not worthy any serious consideration.
etc, etc.

To me, these remarks just go to show you when people are afraid of new things, they will attack them.

I think how much new wave has enriched my life but I do not feel sorry for the "sheeple" that do not get it.[;)]

I love the criticism I have heard from Metalheads (circa 1984) about New Wave and then hear them go on about originality of bands like Ratt and Poison. [;)]

Some people "get it" when it comes to New Wave and others don't. That's OK. I don't "get" Count

In high school more than anywhere.
New Wave was considered a "fad" by the majority of the Led Zepplin/Grateful Dead/The Doors loving crowd.
We were the freaks who did not bend to their will & declare Neil Young a god.
