So, I'm halfway watching "Antiques Roadshow" last night and this woman has a veritable treasure trove of Ramones memorabilia-

Here's what she had-she had a tour book that the road managers used-she had the jacket worn by Dee Dee and later Cee Jay-she had a notebook in which Dee Dee wrote down lyrics for the songs AND the notebook had songs in it the Ramones never recorded-AND she claimed to Have Joey's jacket-I don't know who this woman was-but she claimed to be a friend of Dee Dee and Joey.

In a way though, it was kind of sick-was she looking to cash in the death of her friends?-Maybe she had a family emergency and had to sell-alls I know is that if I had Joey and Dee Dee's jackets in MY possession I would either keep them forever or make sure they got to a venue where others could enjoy them-like the rock and roll hall of fame (okay-I'm not ENTIRELY altruistic-if I would transfer them to a museum like the rock and roll hall of fame I would accept a nominal fee-or take it as a tax write-off-but I wouldn't look at these items as a cash cow). By the way, what she had there, as a set could have been auctioned off for about 15-grand.

The Road Show doesn't sell anything does it? I think she was probably just wondering how much all the stuff was worth.

No-they don't but, some people go there to cash in-get a free appraisal and then see about selling it-I don't know I could be wrong-but she just didn't seem interested in WHY this stuff was so important-the appraiser was more excited than she was-I guess

Yeah but did that stuff have its original aged patina or an associated provenance? [:o)]

I love that show. It's amazing how much some of that stuff is worth. I like that they also point out the reproduction & fake pieces as well.
They always say if you are going to collect something, you should collect it because you like it, not because you

I used to buy records because "they were rare", not because I liked the band/music. I sold all those records and bought a bunch of $3.00 records that I actually wanted and listened to.

Wow, that's an awesome cache of Ramones goodies. I would hope that they would be donated to the RRHOF or something like that, or at least donated to auction for charity...like, Cancer research or something.

I looooove the AR. I go crazy for that shit

Hey christsmasher, I'm with you! I can't pass up a bargain and I always dream of finding treasure at some old ladies yard sale. I always think I'm going to find a rare painting or an old woman selling her classic car for a dollar. How come my family only
