Waterboys

Never a huge fan , I picked up A Pagan Place years ago and sort of forgot about it. Recently pulled it out again--forgot what an awesome tune Red Army Blues was.
Any opinions on the Waterboys?

I love the first album and a Pagan Place, and Fisherman's Blues is pretty good too. Actually, I don't like Red Army Blues all that much...

What a coincidence - The Best of the Waterboys '81 to '90 is in my computer right now!

While living in Scotland some friends introduced me to the Waterboys and I've been a huge fan ever since. Fishman's Blues and Room to Roam are my two favorite albu

I actually thought they were pretty good, and I bought the albums right when they came out. I first heard "December" from the first album on the radio, and that did it for me.

I bought the World Party albums, too.

It's weird, I've never bothered to buy any other album except Fisherman's Blues, yet every time I play it, I realize how much I like it. How could I not have picked up This Is The Sea by now?

There's a great 2 disc live set called "The Live Adventures of the Waterboys" that captured the band when they were really, really good ("Fisherman's Blues" era). I saw them play on the same tour and the recording totally captured the band at it's peak.

Caught The Waterboys live back when they were an opening act for U2. I went out & bought their album before the show so I would be familiar with some of the tunes. They were quite good I thought, but there was no comparison to U2's greatness...[;)]

I remember the Waterboys and Karl Wallinger's WOrld Party being moderately enjoyable-There no where near being my favorite bands-but-then again-I like more music than I dislike.
