Shout out to New Wave Radio Fans

Hello-You all may have seen me make a post here a little earlier on this subject, but I am in the "baby steps" of some research on people who are carrying their love of their favorite "new wave" commerical radio stations onto the Internet.

What I am looking for is the following: people who have erected some sort of "new wave" radio tribute on the Internet. This can be a tribute page, a listing of playlists, or even a site that streams the music associated with these stations.

My research is ethnogrpahic in nature. What this means is that I'll be researching the historical context of the station, describing the sites and conducting the interviews with the "authors" of those sites. The whole purpose is to provide a "thick description" of the experience.

I am looking for this to be published in an academic journal. or eve the more popular press.

I can give you a hand. I have some original records of radio-only releases of syndicated radio shows like Radio Free America, Music View, and Wavebreaker. I also have the final broadcast of the "old" WHTG before it changed over to corporate radio, and some archival broadcasts from WLIR.

I have 2 vinyl shows of Wavebreaker. The show was never syndicated here in Mpls so I have no idea where the vinyl came from. I've never been able to find any reference to the show online either.

KBEM, the Mpls Public Schools radio station had 2 new wave shows int he early 80's; "Ready Steady Go" on Friday nights from midnight til 6am, and "Radio One" on Sunday nights. I have a tape from RSG that I still listen to, but unfortunately I cut out most of the talking.

I recently came in contact with one of the orignal DJs from RSG, and could probably track down the guy who took the show over in about 1986.

I've been a lifelong New Wave fan since 1985. There was a New Wave radio station in the Philippines called XB-102 which no other dial - and I've seen playlists from WLIR and CFNY - has been able to touch. I was exposed to artists such as Orange Juice, Fiat Lux, Seona Dancing, Fra Lippo Lippi, the Lotus Eaters, the Pale Fountains, the Shine, Care, Blue Zoo, Friends Again, among numerous others, on regular rotation. (I have airchecks.)

Moreover, I've been studying the history of the New Wave and Modern Rock format since then. I have a wealth of knowledge. In fact, I just finished writing Volume I of a book on New Wave music that'll be published before the end of the year.

Right now, I'm working as the A&R Representative of Know-It-All Records, having signed several New Wave artists to the label such as Peter Coyle of the Lotus Eaters; the Pin-Up Girls; and Sheila & the Insects. Check us out:
