What music is the most anit- or non-new wave?

Classical?
Singer-Songwriter (James Taylor, John Denver, Carly Simon, etc.)?
Hip Hop? (But Blondie did a rap song - of sorts)?
Lounge Jazz? (But Elvis Costello later went this direction)?
Heavy Metal?
Disco?
Hippy Rock? (CSNY, Grateful Dead, etc.)
Corporate Rock (Journey, REO Speedwagon, Styx)?
I'm not sure. New wave was an attempt to break away from a lot of things but also incorporated a lot of things. What do you think?

Country is the worst! It's the most anti new wave music of all you listed.
Of the remaining genres, I think you could find elements of each scattered throughout new wave history.

I would guess the antithesis of New Wave would be soulful R&B -I'm not really knocking it, but I would be willing guess that Anita Baker and Luther Vandross aren't big fans of Devo.
