Did anybody else go? Was awesome. does not get the same publicity that Van Halen/ Metal day gets, but still it was a great show during a great time.

Oh yeah....it was hotter than hell that day.

I went to the first one, in 1982. Hot, dusty but so much fun! The lineup that day was something out of a dream: The Ramones, Gang Of Four, The English Beat, Oingo Boingo, B-52's, Talking Heads & The Police. I'll never forget it...

YES!!! I was going to start a thread about this the other day. It was brutally hot, My friend had to go to the aid station for heat stroke. I remember how good it felt getting pummled by the big water cannon. The New Wave day was awesome, I even stayed sober so i wouldn't forget about it the next day [;)]

I attended both US Festivals, saw the New Wave Days, as well as stayed for the David Bowie on day two of the second US Festival...

Well, Either one seeing as how i missed both. My parents wouldn't let me go to Cal Jam 2 with my best friends older sister and all her friends [V] I cant believe I missed Seeing Rubicon live. [;)]

The Us festival if i remember right was started by Steve Wozniak of Apple Computer fame. He did for music what he did for home computing [;)]May he rest in peace [:(]

Woz is still alive and teaches computing, I just heard him on NPR last week.

Was stationed in Twentynine Palms back in 83 still regret not finding a way to attend.

Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple Computers decided to sponsor
two huge outdoor Rock N Roll Festivals, one in 1982 and the next in 1983.
Both Festivals were held in San Bernardino County just East of Los Angeles,
California at Glen Helen Regional Park.
The 1983 US Festival today is still listed in the Guiness World Book of
Records as "Largest Rock Festival Attendance" with a record crowd
for all four days of 670,000 fans. Van Halen also set a world record as the
highest paid artist for a single apperance $1,000,000.
The US Festivals werent simply just loud, crude rockfests with top of the line
recording artists, women in bikinis and the sweet smell of marijuana
billowing above the crowds, these shows also had technology expositions,
air conditioned pavillions that showcased the technology behind the shows.
This was Rock n Roll EPCOT !
