Old Faves vs. New Faves

Think back to your youthful waver days: late 70s/ early 80s, perhaps high school. You were wide-eyed and excited to be discovering some of the greatest music out there. NW, punk, power pop...think about all the names of bands you'd written all over your school folders. (anyone remember "Pee Chees" ?).

My question is: Have your list of fave bands changed since then ? Now that's 20+ years later, would you still consider these your fave NW bands today ?
My 1984 list from a PeeChee I came across in a box in my garage:
Duran Duran
Altered Images
Psychedelic Furs
Echo & the Bunnymen
INXS

I'd say that DD, the Furs, Echo would still at the top of my list today, but not INXS. And not Altered Images...I do like them--a lot--but their overall sound has not aged well.
So, if I had a Pee Chee today, I'd write:
DD
Furs
Echo
New Order & JD
Siouxsie & the Banshees

Have your faves remained the same? Or are they radically different?

I pick bands that I find myself constantly returning to, not necessarily my top, top, top favorites. In fact, I don't I think I really have a top favorite anymore. It all depends on my mood.

Blondie, the Police, Lene Lovich, B-52s, Toyah & the Motels back in my hazy youth.

I think today it's absolutely the Motels & Blondie by far.

I suppose I'd knock the Police down a few pegs now. I love their music, but it doesn't have the same level of interest for me as the others.

Today I'd add:

Now:
For some reason, I don't think Squeeze has aged as well as the others. This surprises me since most people regard the songwriting team of Difford & Tilbrook among the best of the new wave era. I'd probably have to bump the Squeeze and add a more edgy and "out there" band, Pere Ubu. My interest in Pere Ubu came at the same time that I started to gain an appreciation for surreal art. Pere Ubu is definately the musical equivalent of the surrealists.

So, pretty much same as it ever was, same as it ever was [:)]

As well as a plethora of punk and hardcore bands.

Now (as far as NW goes), it has changed somewhat. While I still [i]like[/i] all of the band listed (with, maybe the exception of U2, whose later stuff I've [i]always[/i] disliked) - I still listen to them occasionally. However:

Bow Wow Wow can rather grate on me and irritate me sometimes.

Eurythmics later stuff is just . . . sort of all [i]wrong[/i].

U2's later stuff I've always disliked, although it hasn't really affected my love of their earliest stuff. It's odd, but to me they are like Jekyll and Hyde. I see them almost as two different bands really. Love the one, hate the other.

Kraftwerk, still absolutely love them. Same with Joy Division.

Siouxsie, I got into them listening to their very NW period of "Juju" and "A Kiss In the Dreamhouse" but now prefer their older punk and post-punk stuff.

Missing Persons, I can probably do without. Their music hasn't aged well. But they are fun somewhat rarely.

Nowadays (and these are bands I liked then as well) I am more inclined to listen to:

Killing Joke
Pogues
(early) Wire
Numan/Tubeway Army

But, my musical taste changes from day to day and is all over the place, really.
