Complete Depeche Mode on iTunes

Postby DonGately » Sun Dec 31, 2006 11:02 am

Just found this on on US iTunes. 644 songs for $170. Ok, Depeche Mode fanatics, is this really the complete set? There's definitely some pretty rare stuff here:

Seems to be tons of remixes and such, most of them rare.

Looks to me like all the DM studio and live albums, the DM singles box sets, live stuff and unreleased/deleted/rare DJ mixes, etc.

I did notice that there is some duplication so it may not have been as well researched as it should have been?

I posted this a couple of weeks ago.

If this wasn't an iTunes only release, more would chime in on it's completeness.

<p align="justify">I have most of the albums and singles, but I'd pay 170 for the complete set IF they came with some kind of album or single cover. Even those cheapie maxi singles they released had some interesting covers that a fanatic cannot do without[;)]

I can definitely hear some compression artifacts, and some of the rare remixes are clearly from vinyl, clicks and pops fully intact.

[:(!] Damn! They should post right on the iTunes site how these tracks were sourced! What? are they trying to pull one over on the consumer? (Tongue firmly planted in cheek). Ya, I know. they didn't state they were remastered, but still.

"Are People People" is there, but not available to download seperately as I recall (but I could be wrong about the downloading part)...

Hey Rubellan

Did you buy this or can you hear the pops and clicks on the samples of the songs? I'd like to bring it up to someone there, but need more info.....maybe a song title?

I'm surprised that something like that would even slip by someplace like iTunes....

I listened to the sample of the U.S. 12" version of "Set me free (Remotivate Me). The pops were very apparent.

Thanks for that info.

I know one of the main guys there and will bring it up to him. I'll let y'all know what happens. Whether the band was involved or not, I have no idea, but it seems more like a 'record company' thing (Rhino?).

With the remasters of Construction Time Again, Black Celebration, Ultra and Exciter due in Feb/March, I wonder if the versions in the iTunes box are the regular ones or early releases of the remasters?

Just got an Email from Itunes (as I have purchased a couple of tracks in the past). I can't wait until I'm back home and in Itunes Software again to see what tracks are available-- what's available I can get separate purchases, vs. the whole thing (this is important since while I like Depeche Mode a lot, I don't like everything they've done. Let alone I already own quite a bit on CD). I hope they aren't too strict on exclusivity--I do hate that--it has had an impact on a few tunes I ended up not getting, at least via Itunes.

Is Strangemix and Ejoy the Quad final mix included?
