Croatian new wave

Croatians had pretty good newave movement in eighties. Groups like Film, Haustor, Paraf, Prljavo kazalište, Boa, Azra were very popular.

Remember this!
We shared pretty much in terms of music during the 80's. Both Belgrade and Zagreb had intersting music scenes back then.

I don't know about Croatian New Wave, but I spent a couple weeks in Dubrovnic and Hvar back in June last year (2006) and every club or bar I walked by or went into was playing New Wave or other 80's music. I watched a couple of Croatia's World Cup matches in a bar in Dubrovnic and I remembered hearing "Rainy Season" by Howard DeVoto, quite cool that.
I also spent two weeks in Nicaragua in November and heard a lot of 80s music there. I'm keeping my ears open for more as I'm traveling.

Next time in Croatia look for cds of abovementioned bands and you will enjoy in some good newave or look for it on net (it is not propaganda). Of course, the neighbour nations had pretty good newave and postpunk too. Did you enjoy in Dubrovnik?

Dubrovnik was beautiful. I had visited back in the 70s as a child, before all of the bombing. The only problem was that 2 days before we flew to Croatia, a medical resident, basically a doctor-in-training, perforated my eardrum, which meant I couldn't get any water in my ear due to risk of infection. Going to Croatia and not being able to swim really put a damper on the vacation. The country is a giant beautiful coastline.
