The 50's had Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Dion...

The 60's had Beatles, Stones, Doors, Beach Boys, Zeppelin, Cream, Byrds, Kinks, Who, James Brown, Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Four Tops, Temptations, Hendrix, Moody Blues, Joplin...

I love the 80's but there's some stiff competition out there. I think the late 60's wins because of the musical diversity and an explosion of new sounds. The late 50's with the birth of Rock And Roll comes in 2nd. And the early 80's is a very respectable 3rd.

I like all of 'em, the 5 decades...50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, early 90s but 60s, 70s & 80s are my most favourites.

It goes downhill from late 90s till now. whatever began from late 90s sucked. Past few years ago saw the re-emergence of NW bands which is great but nothing new & thats about it.

I missed a lot from the 80's, but the 90's were definitly my decade.Of course there is something from every decade. I only like Bowie's songs that aren't from the 80's decade.

I think every Decade has it's good music if you know where to look. But If I had to pick one? It would have to be the 80's! That is why I am on this 80's new wave board and not on some 60's, 70's or even 90's boards.

I argree with you Tragic on this stretch of years. I was in college from 79 -83 and as a college dj and music director, I'd get to hear all this great music before most people. I think Punk was in mid to late stream,and many post punk and new wave bands had their debuts and sophomore albums during this time.Echo and the Bunnymen,Psychedelic Furs, Cure,Human League,OMD, on and on.
It seems to me somewhere after this time a lot bands kinda got Synth drunk and got all wussy. I'll take The furs, over mirror Moves and Crocodiles and Heaven up Here over Echo and the Bunnymen any day.

Hey, we all love New Wave so it must be the 80's.

But i personally love the late 60's Beatles stuff. Sgt. Pepper and beyond.

Each decade has good stuff and bad stuff (except the 50's. I hate the 50's). My preference is the 80's, which is why I post on an 80's site. Even the stuff I didn't like in the 80's I tend to like now (even Taylor Dayne).
