great site for info and coverart

I may be a little late getting to the table on this but I recently discovered www.discogs.com. I have about 1500 or so 12" singles(remixes) on my ipod and was wanting to have all the matching coverart for them and managed to get some from amazon but they are somewhat limited. Discogs has a ton of stuff and alot of obscure and limited release coverart (even white label stuff!) and alot of info regarding each release. Just thought I'd pass this along!

Yes. I like that and OMDB ( http://www.onlinemusicdatabase.com/ ) for filling in blanks that AMG and other places might not have. Have fun going nuts grabbing all the cover art! The iTunes flip browser thingy sure does scream for having it all in there.

Yeah, Discogs is a great resource for cover art and info.

For those unfamiliar with Discogs, it is a user-built music database. The main difference between it and other similar music databases is that all submissions must be approved by volunteer Moderators, which insures that rubbish doesn't get into the database (a great failing of some other databases IMHO).

Discogs was started as a DJ's resource, focusing on Electronic dance music, but has since expanded to included Rock, Pop, Funk/Soul, Blues, Jazz, Reggae, Hip Hop, Latin, and Non-Music. There are plans to further expand it in the future to include all music, including World and Classical genres.


For the record, I am a Moderator for Electronic, Rock, Funk/Soul, and Pop music at Discogs. [8D]

If any NWOers are thinking of submitted their NW records to Discogs and need some help, just let me know. I would suggest first carefully reading the <a href="http://help.discogs.com/wiki/SubmissionGuidelines" target="blank"> Release Submission Guide</a>. The Discogs submission process is very complicated and can take up to 3 months to get approved, so it helps to have a [i]friend[/i] behind the scenes, who knows the ropes. [;)]
