Ironically enough, the new singer for Dead Kennedys also plays in the humorous Black Flag tribute band Black Fag.

Black Flag gets the nod out of these two, I liked Keith Morris, The Circle Jerks would win if they were included in with these two. Man, I really loved this era and this particular scene. Minutemen, Meat Puppets, etc.

I saw them both too (and the Circle Jerks). Tough choice but I'll go with The DK's. When I saw Black Flag, Minor Threat opened for them and Minor Threat was better than Black Flag live.

Greg was the better guitarist and any one of the Flag vocalists are better than Jello. Gotta go with the Flag.

I went with Black Flag on the condition that it was "Damaged" era and earlier. I saw the DKs in 1984, saw Black Flag on the My War tour. DKs were a better show, but man that pre-Rollins Flag stuff still kicks my teeth down my throat.

Edit: Man, after voting Black Flag, just because they were the more SoCal-flavored band while DKs hailed from the hated NoCal, I'll have to switch to the DKs. Kinda what bpdp3's saying below. Police Truck, Chemical Warfare, Let's Lynch the Landlord, I Kill Children, and of course Viva Las Vegas are all classics. Fewer classics for Black Flag but more straight-forward energy.

As a body of work, I also agree with pre-Rollins Black Flag (I believe he does as well). Ginn was blistering, and I love the way Dez Cadena sounds against his guitar.

But the Kennedy's might have had some of the better singles, particularly 'California Uber Alles' and 'Holiday in Cambodia'. Those are songs I never tire of hearing.

and the Dk's Police Truck....I never tire of that either. Funnier than Black Flag's Police Story but Henry and the boys get the nod for energy if we just put their "Police Tales" against each other.

Black Flag for sure. Not really into Jello's falsetto singing and politics. Was much more into Morris' and Rollins anger and aggression. TV Party and Six-pack are CLASSICS!!!
