Favorite Dance Record

I've been listening to (and marveling at) Gang Of Four's 4th album "Hard" which, despite it's tepid critical notices and departure from the band's jagged minimalism, remains one King Hell of a dance record. Perfectly blending big funky basslines, hard beats, searing guitar and social commentary into one solid piece of work. It deserved a whole lot more airplay than it got.

Which record of yours do you feel is the perfect "dance" album?

Well I guess that would depend if you are reffering to a 12" single or an LP...I am going to assume you mean the entire LP, for that, in the New Wave catergory I am going to nominate Human League's 'DARE'

I suppose for synthy new wave, I'd say Visage's The Anvil album. Every cut was great and very danceable. It's one of my favorites.

As for single song - it's either Never Say Never by Romeo Void, or Rock Lobster from the B-52s.

funny, I was thinking about all those just mentioned as well as 'Dare', D.O.A.s youthquake is probably one of the first 'DJ' record of its kind..

.....allllllthough...I just remembered.....what about The B-52's 'Partymix' or Soft Cells 'Non Stop Ecstatic' Dancing' ? these were 22+ min a side mini albums geared for the dance clubs..

It depends... cos I can dance to any of the songs of any of the NO albums... but Technique sort of represents the idea of a dance album best.
Oh... and Some great reward by DM is pretty danceable to me.
