how many loved phil seymour's music/musicianship

how many out there loved,appreciated,respected,&was influenced by
the pop craftsmanship of phil seymour??????
phil was probaly the most gifted from the duo of the dwight twilley band,handeling the drums & most of the lead vocals chores of that superb duo.
during and after the dwight twilley band,phil contributed his drumming,songwriting & vocal chops to some of the biggest bands of the late 70's & early 80's,like tom petty & the heartbreakers,20/20,the textones,plimsouls,cretones etc.....the list goes on.
in early 1980,when i first heard the song,"precious to me" by phil seymour,i was totally blown away!!!!!! to say the least!!!!! i was listening to probaly one of the best crafted pop songs ever!!!!
i went out & bought phil seymour's sophmore effort called,"phil seymour",and it was just full of the perfect poweer pop song(s).
it was getting the best press all over the states,especially in los angeles,where phil & his band were blowing every power pop/new wave band off the stage!!!!
the album even broke overseas as well.
his second album,,"phil seymour 2",did nothing because right after it came out,his record label's president,neil bogart,died of cancer and boardwalk records folded right then and so every band on that label was without a label.
phil carried on joining the textones and recording fab music right up until his tragic death of cancer in 1991.
phil seymour's debut album is finally available on the collectibles record label so check it out...
phil's music & musicianship was a large influence on my music.....

I knew he had done work with tom petty but not the Plimsouls. Sweet!
As far as Dwight Twilly band goes, I thought the song "Girls" was pretty cool.

"Girls" is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Dwight Twilley. I'm partial to the "Twilley Don't Mind" album but even later albums like "Scuba Divers" had great songs - - 'Somebody to Love' was an early MTV video and is just a killer song.

I have both Phil Seymour lps on vinyl and they're terrific. Highly recommended power pop. Both were bought as cut-outs in the early 80's for probably around $2.99; another case of a great musician just not getting the recognition he deserved.

Great stuff.I have both lp,s and the retrospective cd as well as all Twilley,s 70,s and 80,s lp,s.It would be a great debate on who was the more talented of the two.
