Hmm, I remember reading that article the summer following my first year of Junior High School.

Since our local (NY) area pop culture was at the time being rocked and upended by the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Son_of_sam" target="blank">'Son of Sam'</a> phenomenon, my first impression of this TM piece on the emerging Punk Rock scene was WTF? Raw meat? Safety Pins? Slam Dancing?... This seemed more like the realization of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_clockwork_orange" target="blank">'A Clockwork Orange'</a> (the book) rather than a music craze!

Little did I know that bands like the Clash, Sex Pistols, The Damned, The Stranglers would eventually become integral parts my record collection alongside my Prog Rock, Top 40, Jazz, Classical and (gulp) Disco albums.[:I]

Funny, for some reason it all seems so naive and tame in retrospect almost 30 years later.
