Can you think of any New wave or other early 80s songs that became more popular later on?

The classic example is the Romantics "What I like about you" which was released in 1979, with very mild success, but became a wildly popular party song in the 90s (with no royalties going to the band -- can't you just picture them in tattered snakeskin clothes?)

Also, how about Erasure's "Just can't get enough"

or "Nowhere Girl"

I would beg to differ on the popularity of The Romantics "What I Like About You". It was a hugely popular "party" song even in its day. I remember it as a staple in the early 80s fraternity parties I attended.

I think DA DA DA by Trio is an example of a song that is more popular now than back in 1982-3 when it came out. It even was used in a car commercial not too long ago.

There was a large demand for Baltimora's "Tarzan Boy" so much so that it was reissued on cd-single in the early 90's. Used in a commercial....ofcourse. Mouthwash was it??

Most of the Ramones songs were from the 70's, & got little or no airplay in that decade, & more (but "new wave only") airplay in the 80's (WLIR, KROQ ect..)
In the 90's & now, I hear Ramone tunes sometinmes on mainstream "Classic Rock" stations.......

I was just thinking that "The Promise" by When in Rome came out in 1987, and I recall it becoming a minor hit in 1994. "She Sells Sancutary" by The Cult came out in '85, and was used in 2003 in a car commercial.

By the way, "Just Can't Get Enough" was

i think the song oppurtunities by pet shop boys was played as the theme song for this one game show for money. is taht not correct?
