So I have been tasked with writing the "KDHX Picks" article for the July edition of Sauce Magazine here in St. Louis. The subject is New Wave, and I have to write a sentence or two about the following:

Album
Book
Concert
Movie

I am supposed to pick one item for each category and, like I said, summarize it in a couple of sentences. This is to give readers a good place to start discovering (or re-discovering) the wonderful thing that is New Wave. I would love to hear what you guys would pick. It's going to be rough narrowing this down, but here are my preliminary ideas:

Album: A Flock Of Seagulls (1981) - They pretty much sum up New Wave for me, but so do a hundred other bands (Devo, Human League, Blondie, Missing Persons, etc)

Book: "This Ain't No Disco...New Wave Album Covers" by Jennifer McKnight-Trontz (2005) - 250 pages of classic album covers from the era...a must have for any fan. Some of the artwork is amazing!

Concert: Not sure on this one yet. The article is for the July issue, so I may pick The Police concert on July 2nd in St. Louis, but I need to look at the concert calendar, and I never really considered them New Wave even though many consider them so. The Bravery is playing at a place called Pop's in Sauget, IL which would be a good choice, but it's on June 10th. Shit.

Movie: The one that springs to mind is Fast Times at Ridgemont High, but I need to think about this one some more too (maybe 16 candles?).

I look forward to seeing some of your ideas!
