Greatest Year in Early New Wave

Consensus among journalists & artists alike seem to agree that between 1977 (the rise of punk) & 1982 (before the music video explosion)the movement was at it's most passionate & creative. Which year do you feel best represents the high water mark of the early New Wave era and why?
