What bands do you guys think have the best b-sides? Here are my favourites:
1) Pet Shop Boys (I think their b-sides are often better than their a-sides)
2) Depeche Mode (I love Ice Machine, Shout, Set Me Free)
3) Duran Duran
4) Strawberry Switchblade
5) Clan of Xymox
6) Erasure
7) The Cure
New Order
OMD & Alphaville have a few good b-sides but a majority of their b-sides, I don't really like.

I always admired the fact that Duran had non-album b-sides. It made tracking down the singles that much more rewarding.
A Flock Of Seagulls had non-lp and/or live songs on some singles.
Classix Nouveaux had good b-sides too. Tokyo / Old World For S

The Essence have some great B-sides. If you are a Cure fan, and don't know about The Essence, you are missing out on something wonderful.
Men Without Hats - Utter Space (well, only on a EP I guess, maybe was a b-side to a single?) was a GREAT track.

I always bought the 45's to XTC, Squeeze, the Boomtown Rats, and Siouxsie and the Banshees just to get the non-lp b-sides (and in some instances, 2 non-lp b-sides or more if there was a 12" involved). Of course, there were some truly great songs that sho

Agree XTC had some great b-sides. Speaking of XTC, has anyone been scooping the Fuzzy Warbles series from Andy Partridge. I have volumes 1-4 and just scooped the new volumes 5-6. Each has about 20 tracks, lots of major must haves for XTC fans, big time. A

My vote goes to Ultravox.
Their B-sides are some of their best songs: "Waiting", "Passionate Reply", "Alles Klar", "I Never Wanted To Begin", "Paths and Angles"...all magnificent.

It shows up on Ebay once in awhile. I don't have it (yet). It was originally released as a 10", then Stiff picked it up and re-released it as a 12".

I agree, I've always thought that Depeche Mode, the Cure, and New Order always had good B-sides.
I also like XTC's, Siouxsie's, Elvis Costello's, the Clash, and even Bananrama's b-sides.

"Utter Space" was also the b-side to "I Got the Message" (cat. # STAT20).

I was a bit leery of those CD's, to be quite honest, Grunch. I was never a big fan of those re-workings that Andy Partridge did, such as the "Go+" EP and his first solo album. "Down in the Cockpit (dance mix)" I also found quite weak, and I was put off

Simple Minds have some cool instrumental b-sides.
Some other faves are "Lost Control" by A Flock Of Seagulls (I am DYING for someone to reissue the "Story Of A Young Heart" CD and add that as a bonus track) and "Like A Gun," the b-side of "Send Me An A
