Propaganda were a band which came out when NW music was at its hisghest peak. Great band whicd did about 4 albums and later even had members of Simple Minds do work on their last album "1234".

Another legend.

I remember having the hots for the 2 women in the band.

In 2007, Propaganda appeared on German TV (RTL's Ultimative Chart Show) to lipsync Dr Mabuse, and Claudia and Michael did a short interview afterwards. Here is the footage from the show in MPG2 (TV to computer). It is 4x 100MB RAR files.

You weren't alone in that, I had the serious hots for Claudia Brücken. Love her voice too.

A Secret Wish is one of my top 5 faves. You might want to check out her solo album too, recently re-released.

I too had the hots for Claudia, amazing voice. "A Secret Wish" stands the test of time. Check out Unicorn by Apoptygma Berzerk, Claudia sings the chorus.

<p align="justify">I remember listening to "Duel" and hating the vocals, so I discounted this band. I heard it again - and I still hate the vocals[}:)]

I don't really think of Propaganda in the traditional "new wave" sense (with their dark synth sound, I find them to be inline more with industrial sounds). And I definitely don't consider them as being the height of new wave.

By 1985, everything that had made new wave unique and different between the late 70s and early 80s had really come and gone and new stuff was, for the most part, just a pale imitation of earlier new wave, leaving us with a second half of the 80s that required more work to find truly impressive new wave. In general, from new wave to pop, I much prefer early 80s music as a whole. It's weird. Does anyone else have specific years that standout for them as having a higher concentration of music they like? For me, favorite music years of the 80s would be 1980, 1983, 1984, 1986 and 1987. Not sure if those years might also be relevant because the music is somehow attached to fonder memories though.

I'd say that quality-wise, 1983 was the best year for music, but my favorite year for it is 1985 - like you, because of the memories I have attached to it. In my opinion, 1984 was the last year of "real" new wave. Tons of great music after that year, but I can't categorize it as new wave.
