I'm a huge fan of Elvis Presley. Although I'm a straight male, I still say that his voice can sometimes bring me near tears. Whether it's the early, young Elvis or the bloated self-destructive Elvis, I think his voice has never been bettered.

I'm also a fan of Elvis Costello, although I don't like anything after "Blood And Chocolate". Great lyricist, great songwriter, etc.

I'll choose Presley, though.

Agreed dudes. Costello is great. Great writer and visionary. But you can't beat the king! Elvis has grown far bigger than his music. He is a legend.

In my college days, Elvis Presley was known as "Big Elvis", and Elvis Costello was known as "Little Elvis". That being said, I have to ask myself who would I rather listen to, and the answer is immediately Elvis Costello.

There is no question in my mind that Prestley was more important to modern music. That said, I really lost any interest in his stuff after I got out of the fifth grade. Costello, on the other hand, I find much more to my taste.

I mentioned somewhere in another thread how I just love Elvis Costello's voice, the songs, and the way he sings. He's a great singer/songwriter. I got his album "Brutal Youth" and it's a really good one, for me, at least.
