It seems the extended version of "Tainted Love"/"Where Did Our Love Go" (8:00+) can be found pretty readily on CD. Is the radio edit, clocking in somewhere around 5:00 available on CD?

I never, ever liked the "Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go" medley in any incarnation. I liked "Tainted Love" as a stand alone song. In fact the medley version really didn't get much airplay in my area until months after the original stand alone version became a hit.

I have the 8:57 12-inch version of the medley, which I got as a throw-away from a radio station I worked for in those days. It also includes a 9:00 dub version and the song "Memorabilia." The only reason I grabbed it was for "Memorabilia."

I always thought "Bedsitter" was their best song (the original version from Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, not the inferior re-recording). It's a great tune, and the lyrics really capture that lousy "morning-after" feeling that frequently follows a night in "Clubland".

more info: marc has expressed dismay at the fact that for years "tainted love" was one of the best-selling singles of ALL TIME. and had they stuck an original song on as the b-side they would have actually made some money on it, as the royalty is figured differently that way. sure, they may have made a little $$$ for sheer number of units sold, but it pales in comparison to what they could have made if they'd stuck "entertain me" or "chips on my shoulder" on the flip side!
holland-dozier-holland laughed all the way to the bank though...

They may have not made that much money from the song, but what about it as a sample in Rihanna's "S.O.S." ? What kind of money have they made on this? Curious to know!

Probably nothing

I hear samples left and right in today's music but even if they do receive something it's probably so minimal. I wonder if My Mine ever received proper credit for Bananarama's 2006 single "Look On The Floor" It's a shame these teens today think they are all original tunes but in about 75% of today's music a sample lies there somewhere.

i imagine they got some sort of royalty for the arrangement of the song, but the original song writer probably made the most.

EDIT:
i.e.: foley's department store used "always something there to remind me" in a commercial for a special sale, and while the majority of that royalty probably went to burt bacharach, naked eyes could stake a claim on it also as it was their arrangement (and the distinctive descending bells melody is theirs as well) of the song. i think they actually did pursue that, if i remember right.
