So, I've been (slowly) going through my CD collection trying to digitize as much as I can for my shiny new iPOD. I've gotten through most of the bands I have 3 or more CDs from and now it's to the 3 and under - and I can't believe how many albums I'm listning to that I just plum dropped from my CD rotation. Todays re-revelation is:

The Inspiral Carpets "Revenge Of The Goldfish". I had totally forgotten how much I love(d) this record (and their others for that matter).

There were a bunch of bands that all came out around the same time that I couldn't keep tabs on (New Fast Automatic Daffodils, The Farm, Inspiral Carpets, Happy Mondays, Primal Scream, Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine, Neds Atomic Dustbin, The Shamen, etc) and I've got most of their albums of that period - but I just haven't reached for them lately.

But, wow! This album is just brilliant. Had the same experience with Neds Atomic Dustbin's "God Fodder" - I think I can listen to "Green Cell Grey" over and over without needing to ever hear another song.

Anyone else have this sort of experience?

I would actually say that Operation Ivy's "Energy" is one of those albums...I won't listen to it for years...then for reasons unknown I'll just listen to it...and remember how much an amazing album that is...stands the test of time...

The iPod is the greatest invention for re-discovering old CDs in your collection. And I agree that the 10 gig one is a bummer after you discover its usefulness. I'm virtually out of space and I haven't even gotten through a quarter of my collection!
