Here's how this happened. Around about '97 or '98 I decided that I really wanted to collect the new wave music I remembered from my youth. I'd always kept a soft spot for it, but had pushed it into the background as part of my past.
Anyway, I started collecting CDs and really enjoyed hearing lots of stuff that I hadn't heard in years. Then I discovered Napster and got to hear a lot of more obscure stuff.
Now, thanks largely to this site, I listen to a lot of great new wave that I missed back in the day, mixed in with familiar favorites and newer stuff. I'm enjoying this and don't see myself getting tired of new wave anytime soon.
I must have collected pretty much everything I heard back in the day, because those, "Oh yeah! I remember that great song!" moments are now few and far between.
Now a lot of my old favorites remind me of the new wave revival part of my life - the late 90's - more than the time when I first heard them.
Is anyone else finding their musical nostalgia getting muddled?
