Al's calling it quits as far as Ministry goes . Last cd Called "Last Sucker" released yesterday.

Their musical output was over for me after Twitch so not a big loss here.

I'm glad he's hanging it up. After the Mind album in '89, the quality of Ministry's music was very inconsistent over the years. The 'Bush Trilogy' was a horrible way to end their career (though I do like Houses of The Mole quite a bit). I've remained a fan til the end, but would've been fine if Psalm 69 had been the last Ministry album. Everything from With Sympathy through Mind is classic stuff that I'll always enjoy.

I love all the ministry releases..I think they got better and better with time and their live shows are great! I LOVE Al and wish Ministry would stick around a bit longer. Not to many good angst bands out there these daYS...His love for Bush equals mine.

Love the music but was way too close to the drug use in that band for many years. Barker was married to my sister many years ago. She's a mess.

I really gave up on Ministry after "The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste" and that album really wasn't a favorite with me at all. Secretly I had hoped Alain would return to his roots with more of the "With Sympathy" sound and/or "Twitch", but no such good fortune. Still, I am sad that it is coming to an end. I even felt bad for not keeping up with Ministry's later output; sort of felt guilty for being disloyal, but I really couldn't get into the ranting, raving and the drug use, even though I am tolerant of artistic expression. And this "Bush Fetishism" he has of late is tiresome. This trilogy will sound dated and be nothing more than a feral footnote in the band's history. However, this is Al all the way and he does have that devlish sense of humor. Still, I had wished he would have surprised us once more and not give us another "hanging chad!!!!"

I saw them at Lalapalooza in 1992 and was totally blown away by their their raw power; you could literally feel the sound pushing at you from the speakers. Even though I love "With Sympathy", my mind didn't associate that new wave classic with the band I was seeing live. They are so radically removed from their original sound it's hard to associate the two even when you know they are one and the same.

Give me Effigy, Revenge, Work for Love, I Wanted to Tell Her, Halloween, and All Day. All their other stuff from Land of Rape onward just sounds like rhythmic dentist drills.

Same with me. I was an avid Ministry fan when I was a kid. When 'Twitch' came out, I didn't know what I was in for -- only one of the biggest influences on my musical tastes ever! I credit 'Twitch' with getting me started on both Industrial music and dub reggae (via Adrian Sherwood). So when Al turned out to be a disgusting redneck putting out thrashy mosh music, I felt personally betrayed. Of course, Al owed nothing to me personally, but at that age my music was part of my identity. In fact, it still is; however, my musical interests are quite different from what they were 20, 25 years ago!

i totally agree with loveplusone....ministry was gone as soon as the group went into thrash metal.Al's and the groups earlier albums were the bands best in my eyes, and that is the music he constantly badmouths go figure..

Does anyone have any news on that "With Sympathy" reissue that was supposed to come out last year?
