Any of you computer whizzes know how to do this. I have a copy of both albums by the Hawks on a CDR. One of the members of the band was kind enough to make it and send it to me. Only one problem. The CDR is one track, all 20 songs one after the other. A friend of mine has the Nero software that will clean up albums and convert them to CDs. My question, can Nero break up the CDR I have into tracks so I can listen to it like a normal CD.

What version does your friend have?

You can use an external burner that allows you to mark tracks as you make copies. You have to be there during the entire recording process to set your track marks at the appropriate places. I have a Harmon Kardon external that allows me do this using the remote.

Another way is to import the "song/album" to your computer's music program 20 times. Then edit each "album" down to a specific track. Painstaking but should work. In iTunes you hightlight the song then click on File, then Get Info, then Options, to set the exact time of each song.

It's pretty straightforward to cut the file into separate tracks, although it IS pretty time consuming.

I use MP3 Trimmer on my Mac and it works pretty well.

Not sure what version of Nero my friend is using, but it's a later version. Also, he's using a PC.

Sorry, forgot you mentioned Nero, which is Windows.

You need a Audio editing software like Soundforge, Wavelab, Cool edit etc... Quite long procedure depending how fast is your PC. It's one whole track? When you open the track, it's one whole WAV file. You have to dissect each song and rename it as a new WAV (or mp3) file, Dissecting is highligting the whole one song and cutting it and paste it on a new project. to this for each song. Good thing about this is you can tweak the audio track like EQ'ing, Compressor and Boost/Enhance.

I actually have a related question

I have Nero, and for some reason CD-R's that I made with Nero do not play on my portable Sony player. They play fine in my car, and in my home audio system, but not in my portable player. But I tried with Sonic burner, and they played fine everywhere.

I think it might be the speed at which Nero records, and I use the lowest speed offered, so I don't know. I think lowest there is 1200.
Anyone know reasons
