"Storm Chaser" EP by Erasure
The new Erasure EP is an outstanding release! Boasting an impressive nine tracks, it's an awesome compilation of remixes, single edits and a great new track featuring Cyndi Lauper. Everything here is superb, however, the highlight for me is the Koishi & Hush remix of "Storm In A Teacup". These guys make a haunting track even more gorgeous and danceable with their expert treatment to the song. There is this complete integrity paid to Erasure's original composition and not a self-indulgent mess that some remixes can turn into. I love what they accomplished here with beautiful echo effects on some of the lyrics, as it makes the whole melancholy of the song really stand out. Oh, talk about an ingenious way of getting into the break!!! The lyrics go, "And I stole away, like a thief in the night". This is where the track reflects these words, as it fades out in echo, and then the track slowly builds up to a "storm of percussion" for a breath-taking effect; this beneath the lyrics of "There's a storm in a teacup!" It will certainly send chills up your spine. This will most assuredly cause quite the "tempest on the dancfloor" when it occurs. I may not be an expert in tasseomancy (fortune-telling using tea leaves) but this mix will be an instant classic now and in the future. Guaranteed to rattle your spoons, cups and saucers and put you in a caffeinated bliss.
