1983 with synth's and a vocoder with song titles like "Computer Age"
"We R In Control","Transformer Man"," Computer Cowboy" what a feeble attempt to cross market himself to the new "New Wave" seen.anybody like this?

I thought his remake of "Mr Soul" as well as the accompanying live performance video (sported a boom mike on stage, waay before Ms Jackson and Ms. Spears)was quite daring and venturous for an artist of his genre. In other words, cool. [8D][8D]

circa "rust never sleeps" neil young had been hanging out with devo a lot, playing with them on stage, etc. they are also in his movie "human highway" and one might surmise that the punk energy of "q?a!" and "duty now for the future" inspired neil young t

It may seem like feeble attempts for older artists to sound new wavy but I took it to mean they've accepted new wave and wanted in on the fun! Just my opinion, of course.

Agree with you devildog. While not the typical Neil Young sound, seems he wanted to dabble with it and obviously had some fun.

Right! I'm a huge NY fan, from back in the Buffalo Springfield days. (yes, I am that old!) I like trans as much as anything he's done. His foray into new wave was an artistic venture, as were his country, folk and blues projects. Neil can do no wrong

I've disliked Neil Young's for as long as I can remember, but I respected him as an artist. I never heard the "Trans" album, but if there was one Neil Young I'd be most curious to listen to, that one would be it.

Years after Trans, which is an album I really enjoy, Neil had told an interviewer something about the Trans album being his way of communicating with his mentally handicapped son.
