Stumbled across the 1980 self-titled album from a band called The Cry. It's not genius, but it's certainly serviceable music: sort of a more macho, less witty Elvis Costello, with a decent cover of The Kinks' "I'm Not Like Everybody Else." Thing is, nobody I know has ever heard of them, and I can't find any info on the internet because the word "cry" will always get me 9,000,000,000 hits on Google. So- can anybody fill me in on who these people were and if they ever did anything else? If you can tell me, I'd be forever in your debt.

The track that got some radio play was "crackdown".
Just two lp's from them and the self titled is the first one.

The only The Cry I know is a temporary signature name for John Watts, former leader and frontman of Fischer Z, who I guess you'll know. He only used the name for a 1984 lp and some 7". So it may not be what you are looking for...
