The Fixx is my personal favorite band, and Cy's new solo album just came out. Jamie West-Oram (Fixx guitarist) is on the whole thing, so there's a very Fixx-like feel to the songs. I know the band has played a couple of these at some of their live shows. The samples on the website are 2:00, so you get a great feel for every song. I'm very impressed with what I heard. If you've heard the last couple of Fixx albums (2003 Want That Life and 1998's Elemental), then you won't be too surprised with the 'contemporary rock' sound of this album. Good stuff, great production, and a nice primer for the upcoming new Fixx album in 2008. Anyway, link:

I love the quote from the link:

"Soaring vocals meet listenable melodies and personal observations in the latest solo project from Cy Curnin (lead singer of The Fixx)."

The melodies are listenable? That's the best the publicist can come up with? And it features personal observations? Way to stand out, so few singer-songwriters ever feature personal observations.

Does the album feature the competent drum work of Don Brewer?

I just listened to the clips and I must say I'm impressed. I might actually get this album.

I saw the Fixx here in Vegas a ways back(I want to say 2-3 years ago) and they were freakin amazing. Cy's voice still sounds like it's fresh, and sounds alot like the records. I may have to pick this up as well.

Fixx is one of my favorite bands. I never dreamed it but in 99 my station supported an 80's fest with Fixx, Outfield, Berlin, and The Motels. I was out on the rails behind the stage when Cy and Rupert started talking to me. I freaked out got all stupid but was able to wish them a great show. Got pics and did an interview with jamie. During the show I sat 5 feet from Cy just trippin. The Cd is good I have it but I like the faster pace of the band together. The last two Fixx cd's that they put out themselves are great
