How about it ? Which do you prefer, the moody, somewhat gothy stylings of Echo and his B-Men? Or do you lean toward the moody, gothy stylings of the Furs ? Worthy comparison, I'd say.

I'm a big fan of both, but I prefer the Furs. I have their 1st 4 albums--up to & including Mirror Moves--and they are brilliant. My fave is Forever Now. This is definately on my Top 10 album list of ALL TIME. Love My Way, President Gas, Danger...oh my goodness, it just doesn't get much better than this. I love those dense guitars, the swirling synths, and Richard Butler's gravelly voice.....or how about early Furs, with dark and ascerbic songs such as "Into You Like a Train", "I Wanna Sleep With You", "India", "Susan's Strange"...mmmm...I love me some Furs...

Echo every time for me.
Although the Furs first album is great especially India (my favourite of their tracks), and Dumb Waiters was a pretty good single too, they did seem to lose their edge and creativity somewhat later on whereas the Bunnymen just we

Tough one because they are both great bands and similar in some ways. But I will go with the psych furs on this.

This is a very difficult choice. I like both bands equally, and had to think which band could I live with not hearing again. I went through their catalogs in my head, and when "The Cutter" crossed it, I had my answer. Echo wins this one, and if by choo

I am glad Echo reformed. I still think they are putting out excellent CD's. Their live Liverpool CD is really good, as is the DVD.

I choose Echo, but only when pressed. I am a fan of both.

I guess it's something to do with the fact that i'm from the UK.
As far as most people over here were concerned the Furs deliberately aimed for the American market after the first album...
i.e. a bit smoother with more shoulder pads etc...

While I like both bands, I agree with SVC that the Furs "India" is by far their best and most powerful song from their best album. It's one of the best Side A, Track 1's on a debut album. The next three albums were good but they lost their edge after "Ta
