For me: A Flock of Seagulls on the Listen Tour. 1982 in Denver, CO.
My first real NW concert. The Fixx opened and both put on a fantastic show.

Duran Duran in February of 2005 at the then-Office Depot Center, now-Bank Atlantic Center in South Florida.

Echo & The Bunnymen last summer in Atlanta was good, too.

The Neighborhoods,Main Act concert club Lynn,MA,summer 1979. My first punk show. After watching David Minehan go nuts on stage there was no turning back.

Duran Duran, December 2003, Enmore Theatre, Sydney.

It was the "reunion tour" just before they released Astronaut. The Enmore is a small club, seats only a few hundred I think, I was on the dancfloor!! Phenomenal!!

It was essentially a greatest hits tour, the focus of the setlist was the 80's music they did at the peak of their fame, plus a few odd 90's tracks and "new" stuff.

Superb. I have never seen somany screaming 30something women in my life!
I felt like I was 14 again!!

New Order, Seattle Paramount Theater, 1989.

Technique had just been released, and was featured heavily in the show. Great crowd, great sound, and the band was in awesome form that night.

Debbie Harry, The Channel in Boston, 1989 or '90.

I had waited since 1977 to see her live & it was worth it. She was in top form, did a ton of Blondie songs and a bunch from Def, Dumb & Blonde, which I thought was her best solo album. I managed to get close to the front & the crowd was full of old fans like myself.

Boomtown Rats 1982,I still think they are great."Joey,s on the Street again" one of the best songs I heard in the late 70,s.

Mentioned this before in the Concerts forum...

X at LA's Lhasa Club. Shared a Budweiser with John Doe, kissed Exene...your typical LA night out.

That 2003 reunion show was awesome! Could possibly have been the second best NW show I've been to. It freaking rocked!

Without a doubt, it had to be Tears For Fears @Jones Beach back in 1990. It was their very last US concert performance from their 'The Seeds of Love' Tour.

These guys had an awesome stage presence and band chemistry not to mention the gorgeous voice of Oleta Adams that totally belied the fact that Orzabal and Smith would soon be going their separate ways.

I recall their closing song was a rousing, soulful and heartfelt rendition of 'Advice For The Young At Heart'

Truly Unforgettable..

It'd be really easy to discount a latter-day new wave band playing in a latter-day timeframe, but I gotta admit remembering how good this tour was. The sound quality and orchestration at Irvine Meadows was among the best I'd seen - a real [i]production[/i]. The finale there was actually "Sowing the Seeds of Love" with Oleta leading a sort of group rap. Her highlight though was her parts in "Women in Chains". I never thought I'd enjoy this concert as much as I did, though to this day I can't but think if some of that was a rebound from a bitterly disappointing Bowie gig the night before.

my personal all-time favorite was Depeche Mode at Giants Stadium June 16, 1990...it was my first DM concert. My friends and I had floor seats, about 40 rows back from the stage. Nitzer Ebb and Jesus & Mary Chain opened. Nitzer Ebb was pretty awesome. Bono and Adam Clayton were there and walked right by us and waved. It was just one of those "everything is going my way" type of nights and DM were fantastic. I loved them before I saw them but really became devoted afterwards. I would provide (in excruciating detail) information to anyone who would listen about the concert. I really haven't experienced any concert like that again. Yes, some have come close but this one was just perfect in my book! [:D]

I've seen some really good New Wave shows in my time, the final gig of the "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" tour, I saw DD on the "Rio" tour before it broke, DEVO on the "Oh No" tour... Siouxsie in 1985, a private show for me and about 20 people by The Damned in 1986...

But of course the absolute best is a tie between Kraftwerk in Chicago 1998 and Kraftwerk in Chicago 2005. It is impossible to choose one over the other.
