Is it me or is Chill music a version of new wave from back in the Day.

Not sure about the answer, but my favorite chill song is actually from the new wave era ('83): "Moments In Love" by Art of Noise.

Although I like some modern chill (listening to some Oakenfold chill right now), I don't think "Moments..." has ever been topped.

I think "Chill" can be traced back to Brian Eno, or even Vangelis and other early noodlers in first generation synthesizers.

Some would argue that Chill is closer to jazz. Even the local NYC adult-jazz station branded themeselves as Chill for awhile a couple years back, to capitalize on the craze. They basically stuck to their smooth jazz cuts but added some with an electronica edge.

moments is great and Trevor Horn is a master. The Chill Channel on Sirius is very electronic no smooth jazz to speak of
