Angry Young Bees Videos

Postby craigkahn » Thu Dec 13, 2007 4:16 am

If anyone is interested, I just put up a bunch of Angry Young Bees videos (from the '80s, of course...the quality of the video from the Bunratty's reunion concert we did a couple of years ago was crappy). Just go to YouTube and search for Angry Young Bees. I've got 7 videos (including some Jamie Shaler on Vaction) up and I'll be adding a bunch more.

Now I don't have to go looking for next week's video of the week. Thanks, Craig! And welcome to the forum.

Why on earth wasn't that one released?!

Good question. Politics, probably. I always liked that song. We had four songwriters in the first Bees so everyone wanted a piece of the action.

If you, or anyone else, has a particular Bees song you'd like me to put up on YouTube let me know. I've got videos of pretty much every song we did.

"You're Not Talking to Me," "Watching the Sharks," "Livin' in Love" and anything that didn't find its way onto the 3 singles. Thanks again.

P.S. No offense to Tom Reid or Jeff Lyons, but their piece of the action should have been B-siding "Tell Me TV."

Watching the Sharks (recorded at the Rat in 1984) is up on YouTube. Quality isn't great but check it out, if you'd like. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70VYQxFjbAI

That's wicked awesome (as we used to say back then).

Will told me in email you were the video man. You should put all this stuff on DVD and start selling them. Hell, I'd buy 3 copies.

Now THAT'S an idea! Actually, Tom Reid was the video man. And I don't think he'd be too happy if I made a profit off his hard work! Tom put together a fantastic Bee retrospective after the first Bees broke up. He called it - tongue in cheek - "The Bees are Alright". Unfortunately, my copy is third or fourth generation and the video and audio quality isn't great, but I'll be putting up some clips from that video pretty soon.

Glad you like the clips!

Great seeing the Bee's again! Help me out--what was the name of the slow tune that began with a flute?

Maybe that's what he said. Well, I am getting up there in years.

"Down Here in the Islands," which Craig just posted today, has flute in it. That the one? It's new to me. 'Twas not released and I don't remember hearing it before. But then I never watched "Five All Night Live."

You may be thinking of "Give it Away". That's a beautiful song by Jamie. The only video I could find of that song is from the "Rat". There's a lot of audience noise throughout the song which is pretty annoying, but I may put it up on YouTube anyway.

Checked out the Islands tune--thats not the one I'm thinking of. The song--if I remember correct--started out with just the flute. Was a nice change of pace.

"(I can't) Give it Away" is up on YouTube now. I'll bet that's the song you're thinking of.

That's the one. You're right about the audience noise but it was still cool to hear that again!
