Perhaps no one really knew just how important Greg Shaw was when he was alive, but I'm sure that we will know now. I'd been a fan of his magazine and label for 25 years, although I was more keen on his poppier side than the garage rock side.

One of the greats. It's impossible to overstate his influence, with every achievement accomplished for the sheer love of music. Stooges, Stiv Bators, Flamin' Groovies, The Last....Bomp Mag. A life well lived.

The Last - LA Explosion was my first intro to Bomp also, and over the years I have managed to add some fine LP's and compilations from the label. The news is sad indeed.

This sucks. The times I ordered from Bomp mailorder I was able to deal directly with Greg himself. How many other record labels/distros do you deal with the owner?
