Where you in the punk/new wave club scene in the last great year of the 80s pre aids pre crack club scene, if you were you know just how special that year was as well as the 4 years leading up to it and the 4 year following it before it ended ane we all went our seperate ways. Long Island had the most incredible clubs during this period riviling NYC at the time. Well where the hell are you all? DJ Dave from Paris, Herbie, Donna, Big Steve from SPIZE, DJ Kevin from SPANKYS, Robert, hair cutter Tommy, his brother etc. etc. I am planning a huge reunion for spring of '09 in NY. Please pass this on to anyone and everyone that was a part of this moment in time never again to be repeated ever again. I am going to film the entire event and interview all who attend and make them a part of this documentary film that will play in film festivals across the U.S. in 2010. Lets spread the word and make this happen. All of the CHAMPION GENES will be in attendence and want all who either loved us or hated us especially in my case (LOL) to attend this once in a lifetime reunion event.[:D]

Let's not forget Thrush, Reds, Malibu (early Malibu), Subway and even 007 and Spit
We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

How about Heartbeat?
I can't remember the exact address. It was a decent small club on the north side of long island. I saw a handful of great bands there (Replacements, The Call, The Church).

Hey club80, I must have seen you. I went to all of those all the time. They were my favorites.

I believe that Heartbeat was housed in the old Rumrunners (Oyster Bay, Rt 106---across from the old Pinehollow Roller Rink)

We actually began this conversation on another thread when I first arrived at the NWO.
I was, at one time, a regular at Malibu, Reds, Spize and Thrush and a weekday regular at Paris when the Bondage Babies spun there.
Thrush was my weekend home from late 1985 to 1990. Were you a regular there?

I was there '86 to early 90s and will pass the info on and would be glad to help if needed with anything! Sounds like a good idea - an era you cant capture again due to all the: A) boring people these days B) harshness of rules and laws (i.e. fake IDs, etc.) C) boringness of current music scene and music.
I'll be there!
I went to Thrush, Malibu, Heartbeat, Paris NY, Spit, and was a regular every saturday at Spize from 88 to 90. Those were them days. Beer in the parking lot, pot in the multi sexual bathrooms, diners at 5am, and driving home drunk all the time. After that, remember VooDoo? Ye gad.

No I did not forget about all the other spots mentioned by all who posted just couldnt fit them all into intro line. Im planning on having a live band as well as various guest DJs besides myself, the venue will probably be at a local hotel with a nightclub space for those who will be traveling from far away and need a place to sleep as well, not to mention you can drink and not have to drive if you stay at the hotel overnight. It will most likely be on a Sat night in spring of '09 so there is plenty of time to plan properly as well as to get the word out and get in touch with as many people as possible. This is a great site and I know it will play a great part in making this event as great as it can possibly be. Thanks to all that have responed so quickly.[:D]

This sounds VERY INTERESTING.
Since this is a LI club-goer reunion, are you considering a LI venue/hotel?
FYI: The <a href="http://gardencityhotel1-px.trvlclick.com/index.cfm" target="blank">Garden City Hotel</a> or <a href="http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/7546255/?brand=smx_restaurant-nc" target="blank">The Vanderbilt</a> in Plainview might serve to host this event quite nicely. (Just a suggestion..)[;)]
P.S. Don't rule out the Malibu in Lido Beach either, I know Nassau County still maintains & runs it. Perhaps they would (for the right $$) give you rights to host it there! Now that would ROCK![8D]

Yes it will definitely be a hotel on L.I. centrally located on the island somewhere in suffolk close to the suffolk/nassau border. I think those hotels you mentioned would be a bit pricey, but Im not ruling out anything. I have some connects in the hospitality industry so Im gonna tap into them and see what I can come up with.
