If they made a Guitar Hero or Rock Band geared strictly for the Punk Rock/ New Wave market what songs would you like to play???

"Dancing With Myself" would be a good start. I think for a game like Guitar Hero you need to have at least one short guitar solo.

That's my gripe with ROCK BAND -- the lack of New Wave and Post-Punk music (even if New Wave does not always lend itself to much instrumentation by way of synthesizers and drum machines). Don't get me wrong, ROCK BAND has been consistently played by my friends and I since I first got it for Xmas (particularly when we become drunken rock gods), but some representation of my favorite genre would be nice. Full bands like Duran Duran, Echo & The Bunnymen, and Joy Division could translate very well to the game. (I guess there are The Police DLC songs, but none of them interest me.)

Imagine "Space Age Love Song" at 3:00 AM with swigs of Flor de Caña!

Huh uhh... not Katherine.

They do have a Guitar Hero game for the 80s. Its called GH:Rock of the 80s for the PS2. It mainly has hair band tunes but it did have a bunch of new wave songs attached to it (Boingo, The Police, Bow Wow Wow, Go Gos, Romantics,The Vapors, Flock of Seagulls)

The Rockband game for the 360 is one of the best purchases because each week you do get 3 new songs as downloadable content

Joy Division's "Transmission"... it's perfect for Guitar Hero.

Yeah, I've been saying that "Transmission" would be godly for Rock Band. However, the DLC is $2+ per song. That's a lot of Jam covers. :/

Nearly anything by the Knack or the Smithereens has strong guitar solos. In fact, Berton Averre is the best guitarist in the power pop genre in my opinion. If the "My Sharona" solo doesn't convince you, check out the song "Africa" on Round Trip or "Down with the Blonde," a bonus track on the Serious Fun CD.
Jim Babjek of the Smithereens rocks as well. Love the solos he puts out on things like "A Girl Like You," "Miles from Nowhere" or "Behind the Wall of Sleep."
And if you want to go obscure, Dave Steen of the Hawks is really good as well. "It's All right, It's OK" or "The Great Divide" have strong solos. Of course, their stuff is so far out of the mainstream, it would never be included on a video game.

I think "Change" by Killing Joke would be perfect.





We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.
