So is there a favorite bar or club you like to go to to do punk rock or new wave karaoke? What are your favorite tunes. Lately I've been ripping it up with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds classic Deanna. I like to go to Annie's Social Club in San Francisco

I've dropped in on Arlene's Grocery in NYC on occasion. It's on the Lower East Side right before the Village. Every Monday is Rock n Roll Karaoke night. It used to be exclusively Punk Rock Karaoke, but I guess they've watered it down to bring in more folks. Still plenty of old school on the playlist. I obviously never knew the original CBGB's scene, but Arlene's is probably closer to that informal grass-roots attitude than the latter-day CBGB's was.

I seem to do Modern English 'Melt With You' alot purely because it's one of the few New Wave songs in the song book. usually heavilly booze fueled...awful, earsplitting.

aahhhhh...Karaoke, damn the Japanese for inventing such a machine. It has been the bane of Filipinos, having Karaoke hubs on every corner singing nothing but crap.
Very few New Wave choices here. Worse, someone might kill you here if you sing loud and out of tune.

Rotator: I had signed up to sing "Going Underground" by The Jam at the Las Vegas High Rollers Weekender, but stayed up until 5 a.m. for nothin' as one had to sign up in advance on the Internet to sing that night--it was very "special" to hear you sing though through all the beers I guzzeled down!
