Going with The Specials, as we sung that tune many a times very drunk, and in second would be The Business - Drinkin' 'n' Drivin', which is so much fun!!! [:p]

"Nips" is slang downunder for shots/shooters... those keep getting bigger, but I do like the way you think '82!!! [}:)][:p][;)][:D]

^ *snarf* thanks for clarifying the Australian-way for '82 Glokstadt ;-)

The order of recognition of 'NIPS' in Australia would probably be:

1. Slang for Asian New Arrival students into Australia - Was 'big' in the 80's as a racial taunt. (tut tut)

2. A shot of alcohol

3. A nipple (brown/pink-nosed-chest-puppy)

This led to the first interpretation of this song, particularly by the 12-17 year old bracket at the time as a racial taunt itself.

An obvservation by myself at the time was that those who dare sing it aloud risked a swift kick in the head by often poor troubled and confused young asian students [;)]

Very close between Wunderbar and To Hell With Poverty. I went with Gang Of Four.
Another worthy candidate would have Two Pints Of lager And A packet Of Crisps, Please by Splodgenessabounds.

We didn't sell a lot of records, but somehow we left an impression.

Just to clarify.....Yes, I do know what a "nip" is, I was just being facetious.

If we're going to drag Spirit of the West into this then The Crawl needs to get some consideration...

Tenpole Tudor.Wow,bought that album the last year I lived free (at home) and played the shit out of it with an English couple in a rental across the road.Much alcohol was consumed listening to this,Billy Idol,Ultravox, etc. The funny thing is this English couple never heard of Tenpole Tudor but we thought the first track Swords of a Thousand men was killer. The etc in this post was Springsteen,
Nugent,Seger,Reo etc,etc.Remember it was 1981.
