New wave or not new wave.....that is the question at the Max Murdoc homestead (crib, house, abode..).

"Fenetiks" 1979 has all of the earmarks of NW (synths, unusual vocals style, name, time frame). I have always included them along with Godley Creme (who I was told was definitely NOT NW) because of their sound. I have since changed their ID tags to "art rock".

Any better tags for both of these groups?

I only have some songs from the [i]Got No Breeding[/i] album, and all the songs have that late 70s soft rock vibe that is definitely not new wave.

Which is a shame. Take Jules and the Polar Bears, take away the bassist, and add Pal Shazar and Andrew Chinich, you've got new wave. [:D]

I haven't listened to fenetiks in a very long time. But at the time I considered them New Wave.

Good stuff indeed.I was lucky enough to pull Fenetiks out of a cheapie bin afew years back and sought out the self titled soon after.I also found a Jules Shear lp and it was very good as well.I would like to know if anybody listend to the Funky Kings(pre polar bears)and give an opinion.
