Musical oddities

AFter listening consistently to Crap from the past for the last 3 weeks at work, I came upon a few musical oddities.

Larua Brannigan - "Deep in the dark". It's "Der Kommisar" with different lyrics. I like it. It's quirky.
?(Racey?)?? - "Kitty" . Recorded in 1978. This was the template for Toni Basil's "Mickey". And this whole time I thought it was an original.

Great, now I have poster's block. It's interesting to hear the original version of songs made several years before the "hit" version of it came out by a much more popular artist. Anyone know any others?

"Three Girl Rhumba" by wire that was the basis for "Connection" by Elastica
There are a lot of others, but I'm not going to steal anybody's thunder.

"They Don't Know" was a Kirsty MacColl original covered and made a hit by Tracey Ullman.

"Heart and Soul" was originally done by the Bus Boys before Huey Lewis and the News made a hit out of it.

And speaking of Huey Lewis, Dave Edmunds did his song "Bad is Bad" on the "Repeat When Necessary" album, about 5 years before Huey had a hit with

These are pretty well-known:

Killing Joke "Eighties" and Nirvana "Come As You Are" have the same guitar riff.

The Cars "Touch and Go," Tom Petty "You Got Lucky," and The Police "Spirits in the Material World" have the same keyboard riff.

Falco does the song 'Munich Girls', taking the music from the Cars song "Looking for Love" from Heartbeat City...struck me as wierd at the time...

If you're familiar with the Hoovers, on their Skin and Blisters lp they do a version of 'I got you babe'

"Pump It Up" by Elvis Costello was COMPLETLEY ripped off by Go West's "Wild West".

And speaking of Elvis Costello, he wrote a song "Shadow and Jimmy" that appears on Was (Not Was)'s What Up Dog ? album. It's way to close for comfort to "Under The Boardwalk" by The Drifters.
