What do you call the dark, moody, neon-lights-dark-night kinda sounding music. Kinda dark, but light. Like a sunset...In LA
Kajagoogoo - Too Shy
Wang Chung - Dont Let Go
Talk Talk - Talk Talk....
etc...
is there a way to group all of this stuff in one category?
Its kinda hard to tell...
I heard it was called "LA Synth", but an LA resident said that simply was not so...
Its dark...lots of synths...but not dark enough to be called dark wave.

Speaking of this nameless genre, did anyone ever hear the term "aero rock" used in the 80's to describe something similar but more along the lines of glossy/powerful/anthemic AOR. In fact, I recall a review of Icehouse's MAN OF COLOURS which described it

new wave is not punk artist trying to go commercial C"MON. New romantics had nothing to do with punk niether did many other synth and dance pop artist. I don't think the Eurythmics ever identified themselves as being "punk" at any point in thier career.
